Chongming Island's ecological crown jewel pairs the island's largest freshwater lake with the Xisha tidal wetland, Shanghai's first 5A-rated eco-attraction. Twice daily, hundreds of wild geese take flight over Mingzhu Lake in a spectacular release show. Boat through water-cypress forests, climb birdwatching platforms, cycle the lakeside trail, and stay for the famous Yangtze River sunset — entry is free.
