Legend says the Yellow Emperor ascended to heaven from Dinghu Peak, the 170-meter volcanic plug that towers over this 'fairyland' of strangely shaped peaks and clear streams. Taoist temples dot the hillsides, film crews come for the otherworldly rock formations, and the whole valley glows at sunset when the stone columns catch the last light.
